Who can get Direct Payments?


People with disabilities (including learning disabilities, sensory impairments or mental health problems) providing they are 16 years and over.

People with responsibility for any disabled adult

Carers aged 16 and over who provide care for an adult who is eligible to receive care services can receive Direct Payments for their needs as a carer.



What can the money be used for?


The Direct Payment can only be used to buy the care you have been assessed as needing and associated costs.

You can choose the best way to provide your support but The Direct Payments Team must be sure that your needs are being met.

You cannot buy services from the council, but you can have some of your services from us and have the money to pay for other organisations to provide the rest of your care.



Will I get help with my direct payments?


There is a direct payments team who offer support, advice and training in all aspects of using direct payments.
